Jay McDivitt, Pastor

Pastor Jay McDivitt

Born and raised in Colorado, Jay has served as the pastor of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church since July 2006. He has lived in Oklahoma, Texas, Iowa, Illinois, and Ohio--and is glad to be back in his home state. After graduating from Loveland High School, he studied musical theatre in Oklahoma before graduating with a degree in Peace Studies from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. He and his spouse, Ann Williams, both attended the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago and served ayear of internship in Toledo, Ohio. They graduated from seminary in 2006 and moved to the Westwood neighborhood of Denver where they enjoy gardening, reading, and walking around the pond in Garfield park. Jay's passions for ministry include evangelical preaching and teaching, ministry with people living in poverty, and building inclusive communities of faith--and he loves playing his guitar. He is a member of the Rocky Mountain Synod Anti-Racism Team and the Board of the Southwest Improvement Council (SWIC), and his Spanish-speaking skills have vastly improved in his first year of ministry in this vibrant and dynamic neighborhood in Southwest Denver.
